West Sumatra Province Exports 171.4 Million Tons of Non-Metallic Mineral Goods

In November 2024, West Sumatra recorded a total export volume of 359.11 thousand tons. While exports of non-metallic mineral goods (SITC code 66) declined to 171.4 million tons, the province continues to demonstrate strong trade activity. Despite this temporary dip, West Sumatra had been experiencing an upward trend in exports over the past five months, showcasing its resilience in the global market. According to Bank Indonesia, the province exported 173.07 million tons in the same period last year, reflecting stable performance despite fluctuations. West Sumatra exported 20 different product groups based on the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC), with the highest export volume coming from non-metallic mineral goods.


Historically, West Sumatra’s highest export volume in the last 14 months was recorded in October 2024, reaching 180.18 million tons, while the lowest was in June 2024 at 71.3 million tons. Key export commodities include vegetable oils and fats (166.34 million tons), animal feed (40.05 million tons), and various plant- and animal-based materials (30.43 million tons). With its diverse export portfolio, West Sumatra remains a key contributor to Indonesia’s trade sector.
