Batam’s export value in 2024 saw a significant increase compared to 2023. According to data from the Batam Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Batam's exports in 2024 reached USD 16.087 billion, a 10.10% increase from 2023, when the export value was USD 14.610 billion. The growth in exports came from both the oil and gas (migas) and non-oil and gas (nonmigas) sectors. "Oil and gas exports saw an increase of USD 143.62 million or 17.16% from 2023, while non-oil and gas exports rose by USD 1.33 billion or 9.67%," said Eko Aprianto, Head of BPS Batam, on Friday, February 7, 2025.
The largest non-oil and gas export commodity from Batam was electrical machinery/equipment, valued at USD 6.96 billion, accounting for 46.08% of total non-oil and gas exports. Other major contributing commodities included iron and steel products (USD 2.35 billion), machinery/mechanical appliances (USD 1.42 billion), chocolate/cocoa (USD 637.44 million), and animal/vegetable oils and fats (USD 629.33 million). Other significant contributors included chemical products (USD 609.57 million), ships (USD 585.25 million), and plastic and plastic products (USD 337.32 million).
