Acting Governor of West Kalimantan, Harisson, officially released participants for the Pontianak City Run 2025 at the Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Sports Complex (GOR) in Pontianak on Sunday, February 9, 2025. This event marks the beginning of the Saprahan Khatulistiwa activities organized by the Bank Indonesia (BI) West Kalimantan Representative Office. The main goal of this event is to promote and enhance the welfare of the people of West Kalimantan, support the development of local MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), tourism, and finance sectors, and accelerate economic growth in the region.
The 2025 Pontianak City Run, a part of the Saprahan Khatulistiwa program, attracted thousands of participants who competed in four categories: 42 kilometers, 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. During the event, Acting Governor Harisson expressed his hopes that the Pontianak City Run, alongside Saprahan Khatulistiwa, would grow beyond a national race and eventually become an international event. He emphasized the importance of spreading "positive energy," fostering sportsmanship, and strengthening solidarity among the local running communities. After releasing the runners, Harisson, accompanied by the Acting Head of the PKK Tim Penggerak of West Kalimantan, the Acting Mayor of Pontianak, BI representatives, and local officials, officially opened the 2025 Saprahan Khatulistiwa with a ceremonial drumbeat. The Provincial Government of West Kalimantan hopes that this event will be a key moment in accelerating the region’s economic growth and strengthening collaboration among various stakeholders to promote tourism, MSMEs, and finance. It is also expected to foster stronger ties and promote West Kalimantan as a region rich in potential and culture.
