Overall, the economic growth of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in 2024 reached 5.3%, a significant increase from 1.8% in 2023. This growth was primarily driven by mining exports. However, Wahyudin, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) NTB, emphasized that NTB should not become overly dependent on mining resources.
He urged the development of other sectors, such as agriculture, trade, and construction, to reduce reliance on mining. In the fourth quarter of 2024, NTB's economy showed a contraction of 4.97% compared to the previous quarter, with the processing industry and export components facing significant declines. However, the overall economic growth for 2024 saw a notable 11.66% increase in the mining sector and an 11.26% growth in consumption expenditure.
