Paddy Production Targeted to Increase by 52% in January-March 2025

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) targets the production of dry milled paddy (GKG) in January - March to increase by 52.4%  or 5.18 million tons to 15.06 million tons compared to the same period the previous year, which was 9.88 million tons. "For rice, production is estimated to increase by 52.3%," said Amalia at the 2025 Inflation Control Coordination Meeting broadcast on the Ministry of Home Affairs' YouTube, on Tuesday February 4th 2025. Amalia said rice production throughout 2024 reached 30.62 million tons. The provinces with the highest rice production are East Java, Central Java, West Java, South Sulawesi, and South Sumatra.

Meanwhile, the production of selected dry corn is predicted to increase by 41.38% or 1.41 million tons to 4.81 million tons in January - March 2025 from the same period the previous year of 3.40 million tons. The largest corn production comes from East Java, Central Java, North Sumatra, Lampung, Gorontalo, and West Java. Furthermore, BPS noted that rice prices increased at the milling, wholesale, and retail levels in early 2025.The average price of rice at the milling level in January 2025 was recorded to have increased by 0.92%. However, the price fell by 4.30% compared to the previous year. Then for rice at the wholesale level in January 2025, there was inflation of 0.56% monthly and 1.11% annually. At the retail level, rice prices also experienced inflation of 0.36% monthly and 2.29 % annually. For the record, the rice prices reported are the average price of rice that includes various types of rice quality and covers all regions in Indonesia.
