The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that Central Java’s economic growth reached 4.95% in 2024, slightly lower than the 4.97% growth recorded in the previous year. According to Endang Tri Wahyuningsih, Head of BPS Central Java, the manufacturing industry remains the largest contributor to economic growth, accounting for 33.84% of the region’s economy. On the expenditure side, household consumption continues to be the dominant component, contributing 61.29%.
The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Central Java was recorded at IDR 1,817.8 trillion. With a population of 37.8 million in 2024, the province's GRDP per capita stands at IDR 47.9 million. Among Java’s provinces, Central Java's economic growth outpaced Jakarta, Banten, and East Java. Additionally, Central Java contributed 14.48% to the overall economy of Java Island, reinforcing its role as a key economic player in the region.
