The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) recorded that the export value in December 2024 reached USD 59.35 million. This figure increased by 14.24 percent compared to November 2024. When compared to December 2023, DIY exports experienced a significant increase of 26.30%. The data was conveyed by the Head of BPS DIY Herum Fajarwati, in the Official Statistics News release on Monday 3rd February 2025. The United States was the largest export destination country with a value of USD 23.92 million, followed by Germany USD 8.38 million, and Japan USD 4.70 million. The contribution of these three countries reached 62.34% of DIY's total exports.
Exports to the European Union were recorded at USD 16.40 million, while to ASEAN USD 1.86 million. The manufacturing industry sector experienced export growth of 17.69% compared to the previous month, while the agricultural sector actually fell by 59.74%. "Non-knitted apparel commodities recorded the highest increase in December 2024 with an additional value of USD 10.84 million compared to the previous month," said Herum. Meanwhile, knitted goods experienced the deepest export decline with a difference of USD 0.85 million. On the import side, the value of goods entering DIY in December 2024 reached USD 15.84 million, down 21.47% compared to November 2024. However, when compared to December 2023, the import value increased by 27.13%. China became the largest supplier country with a value of USD 7.57 million, followed by Hong Kong USD 3.46 million, and Taiwan USD 1.04 million. Meanwhile, imports from the United States experienced a sharp decline of USD 4.52 million. Overall, DIY's trade balance in December 2024 experienced a surplus of USD 43.51 million. An increase compared to the same period the previous year which recorded a surplus of USD 34.53 million.
