The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Aceh reported that the export of palm kernel shells from the province reached a total of USD 9.82 million last year. The majority of this export was directed to Japan. "In December 2024, the export of palm kernel shells from Aceh was recorded at USD 1.49 million," said the Head of BPS Aceh, Ahmadriswan, on Tuesday, February 4th, 2024. He explained that palm kernel shells have become one of Aceh’s key export commodities, contributing about 2.09% of the total exports from the region.

According to the data, the export of palm kernel shells showed a positive trend throughout 2024. In January, the export value reached USD 1.03 million, which increased to USD 1.25 million in March. The export value continued to rise, reaching USD 1.21 million in April and USD 1.26 million in May. The peak occurred in July with exports valued at USD 1.39 million. Although exports dipped in August to USD 9,270, the numbers improved in the following months. In September, exports were recorded at USD 1.24 million, and by December, the value rose again to USD 1.49 million.
