On 21-22 January 2025, GDP Venture and Dentsu Indonesia held the IP Expo Indonesia 2025 in Jakarta. This first IP Expo featured the theme 'The Power of IPs: Connecting Businesses, Unlocking Infinite Possibilities' and invited industry leaders, trademark owners, stakeholders, creative economy and technology creators, such as Agate, Moonton, Sony Music Publishing, and Visinema. The primary focus of the event was intellectual property licensing, with the aim of providing new insights into the potential of intellectual property in creating cross-sector business opportunities.IP Expo is expected to provide an overview of how harnessing the potential of intellectual property licensing can create greater business value and expanded access to international markets, as one of the main keys in building relationships between businesses and consumers.
Attendees participated in keynote sessions, panel discussions, and networking events, which showcased the latest industry trends. Key topics discussed included utilising intellectual property licences in the gaming sector, cross-industry collaboration, and the impact of intellectual property on the growth of the creative economy and technology sector in Indonesia. Practitioners from the creative industry shared insights on how intellectual property licences can expand market scope and drive innovation in business. According to GDP Venture's Chief Business Officer, Danny Oei Wirianto, intellectual property is an economically key business asset, playing a major role in enriching customer experience, strengthening connectivity, transcending geographical boundaries, and opening up new opportunities in various industry sectors. Danny hopes that this event can bring Indonesia's intellectual property opportunities to a global level. Country CEO of Dentsu Indonesia, Elvira Jakub, stated that the IP Expo was presented to encourage creativity, and intellectual property licences have an important role in opening up innovation opportunities in Indonesia.
