A total of 39.6 tons of Indonesian Robusta coffee beans, grade 3 EK with ELB 4000BC specifications, from PT Asal Jaya Malang, East Java, have been delivered to the warehouse of Fayoumi, an import-export food company in Fashn, Beni Suef, Egypt. "We are witnessing the realization of this 39.6-ton export to Egypt, which is a direct result of the MoU signed at TEI 2024. This shows that TEI 2024 has successfully opened up larger market opportunities for Indonesia’s key products," said Syahran, in a statement from Jakarta on January 27. He added that several trade agreements made during TEI 2024 have borne fruit, with other exported products including palm oil, spices, paper, and food and beverages.
Syahran further noted that Indonesia now holds the largest market share for coffee in Egypt, at 41.45%, surpassing other coffee producers like Vietnam, Brazil, India, and Italy. According to data from Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the total export value of Indonesian coffee to Egypt from January to October 2024 reached USD 100 million (IDR 1.61 trillion), marking a 19.95% increase from the previous year. Fayoumi’s CEO, Mahmoud Fayoumi, also expressed plans to increase imports from Indonesia in 2025, including more Robusta coffee, canned tuna, canned sardines, and RBD Palm Olein CP 10 cooking oil, totaling over USD 3 million. He praised the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo and the exporters who succeeded in bringing top-quality Indonesian coffee to the Egyptian market. Indonesia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Lutfi Rauf, emphasized maintaining product quality and on-time deliveries to uphold trust with Egyptian buyers, highlighting Egypt’s growing demand for Robusta coffee.
