Mamuju Targets 7,000 Hectares of Corn Land

Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar) is targeting around 7,000 hectares of land for corn planting to support the food self-sufficiency program. The Regional Secretary of Mamuju Regency, Suiab in Mamuju said that the Mamuju Regency Government in collaboration with the West Sulawesi Regional Police, the community and farmer groups are preparing the 7,000 hectares of land to achieve the target of increasing Mamuju's corn production by around 30 thousand tons per year. According to him, the program supports the one million hectare planting program initiated by the central government to realize food self-sufficiency. The program will have an impact on increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector and the local economy.

Meanwhile, the Director of Community Development (Binmas) of the West Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Agung Tri Widiantoro, said that food self-sufficiency is President Prabowo Subianto's Astacita program to build the nation's economy from the agricultural sector. He said that the Police and TNI support the Astacita program by sharing tasks, namely the Police developing corn commodities and the TNI developing rice. The Astacita program to build food security and food self-sufficiency, the West Sulawesi Regional Police also build coordination with various related parties, together with all governments at the district level and the community to jointly intervene to support the program.
