Ministry of Finance Responsible for Import Duty for Companies Affected by Corona

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) provides incentives for the import of goods and materials for the production process of materials to produce certain goods and/or services sectors affected by the covid-19 pandemic. The incentive is in the form of import duty facilities borne by the government. This is contained in Regulation of the Minister of Finance No. 134/PMK.010/2020 on Government Borne Import Duties on The Import of Goods and Materials to Produce Certain Industrial Sector Goods and/or Services Affected by covid-19 Pandemic (BM DTP COVID-19).

The head of the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Febrio Kacaribu said this incentive was given for the import of goods and materials needed in the country that could not yet be fulfilled by the industry. In addition, such goods should be used to produce goods consumed domestically. "The provision of BM DTP incentives adds to a series of tax incentives to maintain domestic industrial productivity in the midst of a pandemic, such as lowering the corporate income tax rate, exempting Article 22 import PPh, reducing Article 25 PPh installments, and introductory income tax. refunds, "Febrio said in an official statement, as quoted Wednesday (30/9). He said there are 33 industrial sectors that are entitled to this facility. One of them is the health sector.

The healthcare industry consists of personal protective equipment (PPE), hand sanitizer, and disinfectant. Furthermore, other sectors that are entitled to such incentives are the electronics, telecommunications, fiber optics, smart card, and can heating sectors that have a fairly high multiplier effect for the domestic economy.

"BM DTP is valid at the time of PMK enacted until December 31, 2002," said Febrio. For information, the government prepares a budget for the handling of the corona virus pandemic of Rp695.2 trillion. The funds are allocated to various programs. In details, funds for social aid amounted to Rp203.9 trillion, MSMEs amounted to Rp123.46 trillion, business incentives of Rp120.61 trillion, ministries/institutions or local governments of Rp106.11 trillion, health of Rp87.55 trillion, and corporate financing of Rp53.55 trillion.
