A total of two 40-foot containers containing 5,300 Jimbe drums left a warehouse located on Jalan Raya Blitar-Malang, Pojok Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency, East Java, on Wednesday 22th January 2025. The departure of thousands of Jimbe drums produced by home-scale drum craftsmen and SMEs in Blitar City and Regency was released in a ceremonial ceremony to mark the first export in 2025 of SME products from East Java Province. The ceremony, which took place at the warehouse owned by the export company CV. Cherry Blossom Indonesia, was attended by representatives of the Surabaya Export Center, Blitar Mayor Santoso and elements of Blitar City Forpimda officials and the elected Mayor of Blitar Syauqul Muhibbin.
Director of CV. Cherry Blossom Indonesia, Anik Sriati, said that the two containers of Jimbe drums were part of an order of 7 containers of Jimbe drums from a buyer from China. And there are still 5 more containers that have to be sent to China. The two containers that had just been released, were heading to Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, for the shipping process via sea to China. The two containers of Jimbe drums consisted of Jimbe drums measuring 30 centimeters, 40 centimeters, and 60 centimeters long which were produced by 23 craftsmen who are suppliers to CV Cherry Blossom Indonesia. The main export market for Blitar Jimbe drums is China, and a small part is several countries in Europe and the Middle East. Sentul Village, Kepanjenkidul District, Blitar City, is the main center for Blitar Jimbe drum production. “Last year, in 2024 only exported 41 containers. Hopefully, demand will increase again in 2025," said Anik. In the Chinese market itself we face competition from the production of PVC drums, 'shot' products from Blitar Jimbe drum products," she concluded.
