PT. Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk (TKDN), China Hualong International Construction Corporation (Sinoron), PT. Industri Baterai Indonesia (IBC), have established a partnership to accelerate the development of an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem based on swap batteries in Indonesia. This partnership will focus on the development of an electric vehicle network, including battery swap facilities, as well as other supporting components and infrastructure. President Director of PT. TKDN Tbk, David Santoso, suggested that by combining their respective expertise and experience, this can present a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and efficient first-mile to last-mile mobility solution for the Indonesian people. As a form of synergy, TKDN will get Preferential Rights as the main distributor to develop a network, as well as a fleet of efficient and fast swap battery-based electric vehicles. David also said that no less than 5,000 EV units in the first three years and no less than 10,000 units in five years after the launch of the first EV unit, as well as other supporting systems needed to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles with swap battery technology in Indonesia.
Director of Institutional Relations of PT. Industri Baterai Indonesia, Reynaldi Istanto, added that this partnership is part of IBC's contribution in supporting the development of the electric vehicle (BEV) and battery energy storage (BESS) market in Indonesia. With this collaboration, IBC and PT TKDN are optimistic that they can play an active role in achieving the government's target of achieving Net Zero Emission by 2060, by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia. Meanwhile, PT. TKDN will later play an active role in developing a network of electric vehicle fleets for public transportation in Indonesia. IBC will provide a supply of high-quality batteries and support the development of battery infrastructure including battery-swapping facilities in various strategic locations in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Sinoron is committed to making significant investments to develop electric vehicles that are in accordance with the needs of the Indonesian market.
