The government of Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) is working to ensure the smooth export of durian commodities from Parigi Moutong and Poso regencies to China, meeting the standards set by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC). Novalina, the Secretary of the Provincial Government of Sulteng, emphasized the importance of coordination between central and regional governments to meet the export standards for durian to China. As part of this effort, the provincial government has participated in technical coordination meetings to prepare for the upcoming visit of the GACC delegation to review the fulfillment of export protocols.
Central Sulawesi, particularly Parigi Moutong and Poso, is known for producing some of the best durian in Indonesia, with strong potential to become a key supplier to international markets, including China, one of the largest durian markets in the world. Novalina expressed hopes that the GACC delegation's visit would open new opportunities for local durian farmers and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global durian market. The province has already achieved registration for export from three of its regencies, meeting the required Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Handling Practices (GHP) standards. In 2023, Central Sulawesi produced 743,256 quintals of durian, a significant increase from 563,256 quintals in 2022, with Montong and Musangking varieties prepared for export.
