CV. Yong Fisheries successfully carried out its first-ever export of 7 tons of live grouper fish from Ubur Island, Tual City, to Hong Kong on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. This initiative aims to revive the fisheries export sector in Tual City and contribute to the local economy. The event was attended by the Acting Mayor of Tual, representatives from technical agencies, and relevant local government offices, as well as the Acting Head of PPN Tual. The direct export activities are expected to benefit the surrounding communities, especially fishermen, by gradually improving their livelihoods.
This effort is hoped to open direct export routes from Tual, simplify distribution, and have a positive impact on the local economy, particularly for coastal communities. “We believe this program will boost economic growth and reduce poverty in Tual City,” said Acting Mayor R. Affandy Hasanussi. He also expressed hopes for collaboration with airlines and cargo terminals to support the export development of Tual’s fisheries sector. “The potential for fisheries exports in Tual is immense, and we need adequate airlines to support air exports,” he added. Additionally, Tual plans to export 800 tons of seaweed to China, with an annual production of 180 tons, ensuring high-quality products.
