Based on the results released by the Riau Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the export value of Riau Province in December 2024 reached USD 1.64 billion. This amount has decreased when compared to November 2024 which reached USD 1.71 billion or decreased by 4.17% on a monthly basis (M-to-M). Head of BPS Riau Province Asep Riyadi said that this amount has increased by 11.05% when compared to the annual (Y-o-Y), where Riau's export value only reached USD 1.47 billion in December 2023. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas sector exports are the largest contributor or 90.44% of Riau Province's total exports in December 2024.
The industrial sector is the highest at 88.76%, then agriculture and others at 1.68%. For oil and gas exports alone, it is 9.56%. Those included in non-oil and gas exports on a M-to-M basis include fat commodities, animal and vegetable oils of 49.60% percent, chemical products of 13.85%, wood pulp of 12.10%, and other products of 24.45%. Similar to exports, the import value of Riau Province in December 2024 also experienced a monthly decline of 0.97%, which was caused by a decline in the import value of raw materials or supporting materials. The import value of Riau Province in December 2024 reached USD 164.84 billion. On a monthly basis, it did decrease, but on an annual basis it increased by 0.30% percent. Non-oil and gas imports themselves contributed 83.28% percent of the total imports of Riau Province in December 2024. Where non-oil and gas imports include fertilizer commodities, wood, wood products, and inorganic chemicals, and others. Meanwhile, the trade balance of Riau Province in December 2024 again experienced a surplus of USD 1.47 billion. So during 2024, Riau Province experienced a surplus of USD 16.16 billion.
