The Riau Islands Province Quarantine (Kepri) through the Kijang Service Unit facilitates the inspection of live grouper exports from the area of origin of Bintan Regency to Hong Kong. Head of Quarantine of Riau Islands Herwintarti, in Bintan said that the inspection carried out by officers is in accordance with biosecurity to ensure that the fish sent are appropriate and healthy. Herwintarti said that the inspection and supervision were carried out as an effort to prevent the spread of quarantine fish pests and diseases between countries, while also protecting fishery resources, especially protected fish. Officers carefully inspected the ship's hold, observing the type, number, and volume of fish transported into the ship via Kijang Port. He explained that according to the application submitted online through the Best Trust application, the export of live grouper included 1,985 types of tick grouper, 921 types of beautiful grouper, 1,034 types of mud grouper, and 1,388 types of sunu grouper, with a total export value of around IDR 700 million. All the live grouper fish were transported using the MV Cheung Kam Wah in the hold.
Herwintarti continued that export commodities from the Riau Islands must receive health insurance before being sent, so that quarantine applies strict biosecurity. He also hopes that with the geographical location of the Riau Islands consisting of 96% of the ocean area, fish exports in the future will increase as a contributor to the country's foreign exchange and boost the economic growth of the local area. Therefore, his party continues to encourage the acceleration of acceleration and increase in exports to destination countries by collaborating with all relevant stakeholders, especially business actors to improve product quality so that they meet standards and acceptance in the destination country. He also said that the Quarantine of Riau Islands is intensively coordinating with the local government and customs regarding the acceleration of fulfilling export regulations.
