Global dynamics continue to be a challenge that affects the national economy, ranging from commodity price volatility, interest rate hikes, supply chain constraints, to food and energy security issues due to climate change. Global economic projections show growth of only around 3.2% in 2024 and 2025. However, the Indonesian economy continues to show good resilience and competitiveness. In the third quarter of 2024, the national economy grew solidly by 4.95% (yoy), outperforming countries such as Thailand and South Korea. Real sector indicators such as the Manufacturing PMI remained expansive at the level 51.2, reflecting strong domestic demand. In addition, consumer optimism remains high with the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) and Real Sales Index continuing to record positive growth.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, at the Business Competitiveness Outlook 2025 event, said that the economic growth target in 2025 is projected to reach 5.2%. The government has launched various strategic programs, such as National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas), Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA), discount programs, and food price stabilization to increase people's purchasing power. As a result, the end-of-year 2024 program showed impressive achievements: Harbolnas: Transactions reached IDR 31.2 trillion (up 21.4% from 2023). BINA: Transactions amounted to IDR 25.4 trillion (up 15.5% from 2023). EPIC Sale: Transactions reached IDR 14.9 trillion (up 14.9% from 2023). Economic stimulus program was also provided to maintain growth momentum. Assistance in the form of 10 kg of rice per month for 16 million beneficiary families (KPM), a 50% electricity discount for two months, and tax incentives (PPN DTP for property and automotive, and PPh 21 incentives for labor-intensive sectors) are part of the government's efforts to support people's purchasing power.
