Although Banjarmasin is no longer the capital city of South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel), it is still a favorite destination for business people to invest. One of the favorites is the warehousing sector. Head of the Banjarmasin Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service (PMPTSP), Ariyani, saw this because the available warehousing locations are very close to the Trisakti Banjarmasin Port. It is not wrong if warehousing investment is still the mainstay of Banjarmasin City in 2025. "The Banjarmasin City Government (Pemko) has designated the South Banjarmasin area as a warehousing area," said Ariyani. The spatial planning area point has been designated that there will be no more new permits for warehousing or industrial development except in South Banjarmasin, such as in the Mantuil area. In addition to warehousing, the investment that is quite high entering Banjarmasin is the hotel business, restaurants and transportation. It is because it has been known as a trading city since long ago.
Quoting a report from the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and the list of South Kalimantan Investment Activity Reports (LKPM) 2024 from 8,255 Domestic Investment (PMDM) projects, Banjarmasin has the most in South Kalimantan. Banjarmasin is the city with the most projects, namely 2,056 projects, followed by Banjar Regency with 1,320 projects and Banjarbaru with 1,096 projects. Previously, the Mayor of Banjarmasin, Ibnu Sina said that the data showed that Banjarmasin remains the choice of investors in safe investment. This illustrates that Banjarmasin is still a city that is friendly to investment, so investors like to invest their capital here with segmentation that is in accordance with the fields needed.
