The Acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana, conducted a maize harvest with the Forest Farmers Group (KTH) on a 578-hectare plot in Tegalsumur Village, Brati District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday. The land's productivity reached 8 to 10 tons per hectare, resulting in a total production of 4,624 to 5,780 tons. This harvest aligns with the President’s food self-sufficiency policy, which aims to reduce imports of several food commodities such as rice, maize, salt, and sugar. "This additional production strengthens Central Java as one of the main food-producing provinces, particularly for rice and maize," he added.
In Grobogan Regency, there are 13 Social Forestry Business Groups managing 3,950 hectares of land. These groups receive capital support from PT. BPR BKK Purwodadi, which helps boost local economic development and enhances the community's ability to manage natural resources. The maize harvest was directly purchased by companies including PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia, PT. Mulia Harvest Agritech, PT. CJ Feed and Care, and PT. Malindo Feedmill, valued at IDR 20.49 billion. Nana expressed hope that this harvest would motivate further efforts toward food self-sufficiency and help manage inflation. He called for continued collaboration among the government, farmers, and businesses to enhance productivity, particularly in maize, to ensure food security and price stability.
