East Java Imports in November 2024 Reached USD 2.46 Billion, 14.33% of Which Were Consumer Goods

In November 2024, the import value into East Java (Jatim) reached USD 2.46 billion. Of this amount, 14.33% was attributed to consumption goods, making it the second-largest category in terms of usage. According to the latest report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Jatim’s imports in November 2024 decreased by 10.63% compared to October 2024, which stood at USD 2.75 billion. "This decline in import value is driven by weaker imports in both the oil and gas (migas) sector and the non-migas sector," stated BPS Jatim in their report on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

The imports of oil and gas (migas) in November 2024 saw a decrease of 18.70%, falling from USD 609.50 million in October to USD 495.52 million. Migas imports accounted for 20.18% of the total imports into Jatim in November 2024, and were 33.66% lower compared to November 2023. Meanwhile, non-migas imports dropped by 8.33%, from USD 2.14 billion to USD 1.96 billion. Non-migas imports, however, contributed 79.82% of the total imports, and experienced a slight increase of 0.46% compared to the same period in 2023. BPS also reported that the largest portion of Jatim's imports in November 2024 was from raw materials and supporting goods, amounting to USD 1.91 billion, contributing 77.96% to the total import value.
