The West Manggarai Government in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), through the Food Security and Fisheries Service (KPP), successfully exported a total of 11,015 kilograms (kg) of fish to Singapore in 2024. According to Fatinci Reynilda, Head of the KPP, the export consisted of 4,606 kg of mackerel and 6,409 kg of grouper. This achievement highlights the growing recognition of West Manggarai's fishery products in the international market, showcasing the region's potential as a competitive player in global seafood trade. Fatinci expressed hope that these exports would continue to increase in the coming years, further establishing the region's presence in the global market.
Fatinci also pointed out that efforts to promote and enhance the quality of fish products would be a priority for the local government, aiming to make West Manggarai not only known for its tourism but also as a key exporter of high-quality fish. The government hopes to continue expanding export volumes in 2025, which would open up wider market opportunities and provide a positive impact on the local economy. With this in mind, West Manggarai aims to solidify its position as one of Nusa Tenggara Timur's premier fisheries centers, contributing to the region’s overall economic growth and sustainability.
