The Parepare Customs Office has facilitated the export of palm kernel expeller (palm shells) from PT Awana Sawit Lestari to South Korea. The Head of Parepare Customs, Dawny Marbagio, described this as a step toward improving performance, along with better customs services. "We have implemented this with the export service of palm shells from PT Awana Sawit Lestari," Dawny told reporters on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The palm shells exported totaled 5,194 metric tons and were transported aboard the MV Brilliant Profit vessel from the Belang-Belang Port in Mamuju, West Sulawesi.
From this export, Parepare Customs collected export duties amounting to IDR 1,010,280,000.00, with export revenues totaling USD 519,498, along with palm product levies of IDR 2,104,749. "The export activity at the start of this year signals a positive outlook for exports throughout 2025," Dawny said. He further emphasized that with continued improvements in export services and assistance, the export of palm kernel expeller, a key commodity, is expected to grow, given the high market potential.
