Indonesia's Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) has set a target of achieving 1.61 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD) by 2025. This includes 605,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 1.005 million BOEPD of natural gas, as outlined in the state budget (APBN) projections. “Strategic initiatives such as massive drilling, optimizing idle wells, and implementing Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology are key to our 2025 program,” said Djoko Siswanto, Head of SKK Migas, in an official statement on Wednesday (1/1). Djoko emphasized the role of reward-and-punishment mechanisms for Production Sharing Contractors (PSC) to ensure targets are met. The 2025 theme, “Upstream Oil and Gas Industry: A Pillar of National Energy Resilience,” highlights the sector's critical role in securing Indonesia's energy supply and supporting sustainable development.
SKK Migas has also intensified efforts to ensure smooth and optimal oil and gas lifting operations by the end of 2024. Direct operational monitoring is conducted through the Integrated Operation Center (IOC), where facility readiness, distribution routes, and stock management at terminals are comprehensively reviewed. “Strong coordination is essential to ensure smooth lifting operations at year-end, laying a solid foundation for achieving 2025 targets,” Djoko stated. He outlined three key priorities: maintaining high safety standards to prevent incidents, ensuring facility reliability to avoid operational disruptions, and optimizing lifting through strategic planning to minimize the gap between targets and actual results. “Year-end success is a critical foundation for 2025 achievements, and every step must be meticulously managed,” Djoko concluded.
