The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has announced a significant investment of IDR 12 trillion in three digital industry clusters located within Jakarta. These clusters, collectively known as the Jakarta Industrial Digital Parkway (JIDP), are part of a broader initiative to establish modern digital industrial zones designed to drive future economic growth in Indonesia. The JIDP aims to integrate various digital technologies into the industrial sector, serving as a catalyst for Industry 4.0 by supporting activities such as application development, data processing, information security services, and e-commerce. These digital zones are expected to transform the industrial landscape by promoting the adoption of advanced technologies and creating new business opportunities, especially in the fields of digital services and innovation.
According to Eko Cahyanto, Secretary General of Kemenperin, the rise of digital technology is transforming the business world, especially for entrepreneurs in the industrial sector. Traditionally, business owners were required to own physical factories to operate. However, with the advent of digital technologies, entrepreneurs can now build brands, design production processes, and market products without the need for physical facilities. The JIDP consists of three key clusters: the Simatupang Corridor, with an investment of IDR 424 billion; the Kuningan Corridor, valued at IDR 3.87 trillion; and the Sudirman Corridor, with an investment of IDR 7.71 trillion. These clusters are strategically located to integrate digital services with key areas of Jakarta, enhancing connectivity and economic activity. Additionally, Kemenperin is working closely with universities to foster innovation, particularly by encouraging students to establish small businesses as part of their graduation requirements, rather than just focusing on academic theses. This initiative is aimed at creating a sustainable digital ecosystem, where the next generation of entrepreneurs can thrive. With the digital industry growing faster than traditional manufacturing, Kemenperin plans to expand the digital industrial park concept to other regions in Indonesia to create a more robust and diversified industrial ecosystem.
