In its final statistical release of 2024, Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced the latest developments in the country’s export and import performance on Wednesday (18/12/2024). Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, revealed that Indonesia's exports in November 2024 declined by 1.7% month-on-month to USD 24.01 billion but rose by 9.14% compared to November 2023. Imports, on the other hand, amounted to USD 19.59 billion, registering a 10.71% monthly decrease but a slight 0.01% increase year-on-year.
The trade balance in November 2024 recorded a surplus, marking 55 consecutive months of surplus since May 2020. The most significant decline in exports was seen in the non-oil and gas sector, particularly in animal or vegetable fats and oils, which fell by USD 317.9 million, or 10.48%, from the previous month. These figures highlight mixed performance in Indonesia’s trade, with a stable surplus maintained despite fluctuations in key commodities.
