The Minister of Trade (Mendag), Budi Santoso, officially launched the export of ten containers of palm oil derivative products, including oleochemicals such as split fatty acids and crude glycerine, valued at 420,000 US dollars (approximately IDR 6.75 billion) to India. The export release took place on Tuesday in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. These oleochemical products are produced by The Vegetable Vitamin Foods Company (PT VVF Indonesia), a subsidiary of the VVF Group.
In his remarks, Minister Budi Santoso emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring the sustainable development of the palm oil industry. This is being achieved through policies designed to balance the needs of both domestic and international markets, while also promoting national downstreaming efforts. He highlighted that the export of palm oil derivatives is a clear example of the synergy between the government and the private sector in supporting national economic growth. The government continues to assist the palm oil sector through favorable policies and trade agreements, which ease market access for Indonesian palm oil. He also expressed hope that the successful export would inspire other palm oil derivative producers to increase their exports. Oleochemicals are widely used in various industries, including food (cooking oil and margarine), cosmetics (moisturizers and soaps), pharmaceuticals (medications), energy (biodiesel), and chemicals (cleaners and solvents). Budi Santoso concluded by acknowledging PT VVF Indonesia's efforts and encouraging further commitment to downstream development, which will empower the economy and foster strategic partnerships with SMEs. He also called for continued investment and support from all parties to maintain a conducive investment climate in Indonesia.
