Kemenperin Prepares Strategies to Support 8 Percent Economic Growth Target

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has revealed that it is preparing strategies to enhance the performance of the chemical, pharmaceutical, and textile industries (IKFT) in the coming years, with the goal of supporting an 8% economic growth target. One of the key strategies includes boosting investments through policies that facilitate investment in petrochemical sectors in locations such as Teluk Bintuni, West Papua, Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra, and East Kutai, East Kalimantan. Additionally, Kemenperin aims to promote investment in the textile, footwear, and downstream chemical industries, alongside facilitating industrial downstreaming and overseeing business permits.

Another important initiative involves providing fiscal and non-fiscal support, such as implementing policies on certain natural gas prices (HGBT), offering incentives, and controlling imports. The ministry also plans to promote the use of innovative technologies through policies on restructuring industrial machinery and equipment for industries such as leather and footwear. Furthermore, Kemenperin will focus on supporting the implementation of Industry 4.0 within the IKFT sector, accelerating decarbonization efforts, and promoting sustainability and a circular economy. Another key area of focus is improving supply chains by strengthening the upstream industries and enhancing the synergy between upstream and downstream textile sectors, as well as optimizing material flow efficiency. In her remarks, Acting Director General of IKFT at Kemenperin, Reni Yanita, expressed hope that this event would provide valuable insights into the current state and future developments of the manufacturing industry, particularly in the IKFT sector, by 2025.
