Bappebti Promotes Digital Gold Trading to Support Indonesia Emas 2045 Vision

The Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) held a "Digital Physical Gold Literacy and Exhibition" event in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday (December 13). Themed "Gold Trading: Boosting Commodity Futures Performance and Driving Export Innovation," the event underscored the advantages of digital gold trading, such as convenience, speed, and cost-efficiency. According to Bappebti Chief Kasan, digital gold trading enhances commodity futures trading (PBK) performance and supports economic growth toward the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. With clear regulations, Bappebti guarantees a 1:1 ratio for gold transactions, ensuring the traded amount corresponds to the gold stored securely in depository facilities. The event was inaugurated by Bappebti Secretary Olvy Andrianita, who highlighted the transformation of traditional gold trading into digital platforms, enabling affordable and efficient transactions.

Bappebti reported a substantial rise in digital gold transactions from January to November 2024, with a total value of IDR 53.3 trillion—a 556% increase from IDR 8.1 trillion in the same period in 2023. The traded volume surged 430.6% to 43.9 tons from 8.3 tons year-over-year. Olvy projects further growth of 10–20% in transaction value and volume. The event featured discussions with key stakeholders, including industry leaders and policymakers, and showcased licensed digital gold traders, such as PT Indonesia Logam Pratama and PT Syariah Koin Indonesia. Tirta Karma Senjaya, Head of PBK Development, emphasized the rising prominence of digital gold trading amid increasing global gold prices and ongoing efforts to improve public literacy on safe and reliable digital gold transactions. He acknowledged public skepticism and knowledge gaps as challenges but reiterated Bappebti's commitment to advancing education and fostering innovation for Indonesia's export competitiveness.
