The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) recorded a fisheries export performance of USD 4.81 billion from January to October 2024, reflecting a 4.37% increase compared to the same period in 2023. According to Budi Sulistiyo, the Director-General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fisheries Products at KKP, in a press conference on December 16, 2024, the export value for January-October 2024 was USD 4.81 billion, up from USD 4.61 billion in the previous year. The largest export destinations include the United States at USD 1.56 billion, China at USD 0.99 billion, ASEAN at USD 0.65 billion, Japan at USD 0.49 billion, and the European Union at USD 0.35 billion.
The top five export commodities were shrimp at USD 1.35 billion, tuna, mackerel, and skipjack at USD 0.68 billion, squid and octopus at USD 0.68 billion, crabs and blue crabs at USD 0.48 billion, and seaweed at USD 0.29 billion. To further boost export performance, KKP has also facilitated local entrepreneurs' participation in several international trade exhibitions. Budi Sulistiyo mentioned that KKP supported five major international trade fairs, including the Seafood Expo North America in Boston, Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, the Indofisheries exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), the Indonesian Export Trade Exhibition at JIExpo Kemayoran, and the NUSATIC ornamental fish exhibition at ICE BSD Tangerang. These events have contributed to transactions worth a total of USD 50.03 million.
