PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB) has demonstrated remarkable progress in developing its industrial zone. As of December 2024, 28 companies have committed to establishing factories on a 339-hectare plot, with total investments reaching IDR 18.7 trillion. KITB President Director, Ngurah Wirawan, reported that six companies are already operational, employing 5,500 workers. He projected that by 2029, the workforce could grow to 39,000 employees. Speaking at Grand City Batang, Central Java, on Sunday (15/12/2024), he emphasized the economic potential of the growing industrial hub.
To further enhance its appeal, KITB has launched commercial and residential zones, aimed at solidifying its position as a driver of economic growth while opening new opportunities for investors. These zones will cater to various sectors, including hotels, educational centers, premium outlets, gas stations, an international golf course, and premium housing. "Starting next year, or within the next 2–3 years, we expect to see the emergence of hotels, apartments, shopping malls, cafes, and restaurants along the coastline, similar to PIK 2. These developments won’t wait for all factories to be built," Ngurah explained. Additionally, KITB is prioritizing the construction of affordable housing for factory workers, acknowledging that most employees are expected to come from outside Batang. "Our focus is to build apartment blocks specifically designed for factory workers," he added.
