Indonesia's Finance Minister, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, emphasized the transformative impact of the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW) system on international trade efficiency. The system simplifies export and import activities by consolidating processes that were previously scattered across multiple ministries and agencies into a single-entry portal. "Through digital transformation with INSW, we’ve streamlined processes significantly, making it easier for businesses to navigate export and import requirements," Sri Mulyani stated on Sunday, December 15, 2024. According to a 2023 survey by Prospera, INSW’s implementation has delivered remarkable results, including a 54.6% reduction in processing time and a 97.8% decrease in costs for export and import licensing. Additionally, joint inspections for import-export clearance led to 73.4% time efficiency and 46.1% cost savings, while integrated transportation services achieved 21.6% and 45.5% improvements in time and costs, respectively.
INSW has also been instrumental in sectors like minerals and coal, where digitized workflows from production to sales facilitated better oversight of non-tax state revenue (PNBP). As of November 2024, coal-related PNBP totaled IDR 52.9 trillion. On a global scale, INSW’s integration with international systems for electronic trade document exchange, such as the e-ATIGA, reduced document transmission time to just 7.2 minutes on average. The INSW's success has attracted international attention, with the National Single Window Agency (LNSW) providing knowledge-sharing sessions to countries like Tanzania, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Recently, a 14-member Tanzanian delegation visited LNSW to study its efficient integration of export, import, and logistics services. Sri Mulyani credited the collaboration of 21 ministries and agencies as key to INSW's success, making Indonesia a model for other nations developing similar systems.
