The United States Ambassador to Indonesia, Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, expressed optimism about fostering stronger economic cooperation between the US and Indonesia during the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two nations. She highlighted the importance of collaboration in economic development and human capacity building, emphasizing that these efforts have consistently delivered positive outcomes. Speaking at SCBD Lot 8 Park in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 December 2024, Lakhdhir stated, "My hope, as in the past, is that the US and Indonesia will continue to work together in economic development and human capacity building, as we have successfully done before."
Since assuming her role five months ago, Lakhdhir has observed significant interest from US companies in investing in Indonesia, driven by expectations of economic reforms that create a stronger business environment. The Ambassador underscored the shared vision of US and Indonesian companies aligning with President Prabowo Subianto's goals for sustainable development. “There is great hope that we will continue these joint efforts in economic development and human resource capacity building,” Lakhdhir added, reinforcing her confidence in the potential of bilateral corporate partnerships to advance mutual growth.
