China has become the main destination for non-oil and gas (nonmigas) exports from East Java (Jatim) in October 2024. According to the East Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS Jatim), nonmigas exports to China reached USD 360.92 million, making it the largest market share for East Java’s exports. BPS Jatim's data shows a significant surge of 43.25 percent in exports to China from September 2024, when the value was USD 251.95 million.
With a market share of 15.49 percent of East Java's total nonmigas exports, China outpaced other major markets like Japan and the United States, which ranked second and third, respectively. In October 2024, nonmigas exports to Japan were valued at USD 324.35 million, and to the United States at USD 322.79 million, contributing 13.92 percent and 13.86 percent of the total export value. Additionally, nonmigas exports to regions outside ASEAN and the European Union (EU) continued to dominate, accounting for 75.38 percent of the total export value, equivalent to USD 1.76 billion. ASEAN exports, meanwhile, reached USD 423.63 million, with Malaysia as the top destination, contributing 5.88 percent of East Java's total nonmigas exports.
