Indonesia's Motorcycle Sales Hit 5.9 Million Units from January-November 2024

Motorcycle sales in Indonesia reached 5.93 million units during January-November 2024, marking a slight increase from 5.81 million units in the same period last year, according to the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI). Despite a dip in November's sales to 512,942 units from October's 544,392 units, the overall growth in the two-wheeler market remains steady. Notably, automatic (moped) motorcycles dominated with a 90.26% share, followed by underbone models at 5.42% and sports motorcycles at 4.32%. AISI Secretary General Hari Budianto expressed confidence that the year's sales target of 6.35-6.45 million units is achievable, projecting a 3% year-on-year growth if realized.

The robust sales performance has been supported by new product launches and major automotive exhibitions like IIMS, GIIAS, and IMOS. Leading market player PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) shares the optimistic outlook, setting next year's target at 6.4-6.7 million units, despite challenges such as a planned VAT increase to 12%. The Indonesian motorcycle market's resilience reflects its adaptability to economic shifts and evolving consumer demand, providing a strong foundation for continued growth in 2025.
