Lampung Robusta Coffee Enters the Egyptian Market

PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI), a member of ID Food, has successfully exported 289.6 tons of robusta coffee beans from Lampung and Malang to Egypt throughout 2024. "Throughout 2024, PT PPI has exported 289.6 tons of robusta coffee to Egypt, consisting of coffee sourced from both Lampung and Malang," said PT PPI's President Director, S. Hernowo, in a written statement. Hernowo explained that in the last two months, PPI exported 79.2 tons of robusta coffee from Lampung, with the shipments occurring in two stages. The first shipment of 39.6 tons was sent to Egypt on November 28, 2024, and the second shipment, also of 39.6 tons, followed on December 5, 2024.

Hernowo emphasized that this export initiative aims to increase the penetration of Indonesian coffee in the global market while empowering local farmers in Lampung. "Through this coffee export, PT PPI is committed not only to market expansion but also to ensuring that coffee exports are sustainable and meet the demand for coffee in Egypt," he said. The export activity is a collaboration with Haggag Import Company in Egypt, supported by the Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt, Lutfi Rauf, and the Trade Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, M. Syahran Bhakti. They have played an instrumental role in bridging sustainable export business opportunities between PT PPI and Egyptian businesses. "We hope this export will create strategic cooperation between the two countries, establish a sustainable supply chain, and strengthen the Indonesian coffee market in Egypt," Hernowo concluded.
