The Provincial Government of Central Sulawesi (Pemprov Sulteng) continues to strive for the acceleration of Domestic Investment (PMDN) realization in 2024 to support regional economic growth. Secretary of the Regional Government (Sekda) of Central Sulawesi, Novalina, emphasized during a working visit to Banggai Kepulauan District on Wednesday that investment is a crucial pillar in regional economic development and cannot be separated from efforts to improve the quality of life for the community. "Investment can open new job opportunities, which is why the local government is working to attract investors to invest in the region, ensuring economic growth across various sectors while also improving public health," she said.
In the context of economic development, PMDN has become one of the primary focuses due to the significant potential and strategic role of domestic entrepreneurs in driving regional development. Novalina stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration in developing regional investment. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Central Sulawesi ranked fourth in national investment realization in the second quarter of 2024, with a value of IDR 59.8 trillion. West Java led with IDR 128.3 trillion, followed by DKI Jakarta with IDR 120.4 trillion, and East Java with IDR 71.7 trillion. "Central Sulawesi’s economic growth rate in the first half of 2024 is at 6.86 percent. PMDN contributes to the development of key sectors in the region, such as agriculture, fisheries, creative industries, and tourism," she explained. Novalina hopes that the accelerated realization of PMDN will encourage investors to develop products that can attract both domestic and international consumers. "Investment realization is key to driving economic growth, and this is not only the responsibility of the Investment Promotion Agency; every Regional Work Unit (OPD) plays an essential role in creating a conducive investment climate," she added.
