Indonesia's Golden Visa Policy Gains Global Attention at 18th Global Citizenship Conference

Indonesia's Golden Visa policy is emerging as a strategic instrument to attract foreign investment and global talent, boosting sustainable economic growth. Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services (Wamen Imipas), Silmy Karim, highlighted this during the 18th Global Citizenship Conference in Singapore from 27-29 November 2024. With Indonesia projected to become one of the world's largest economies, the Golden Visa has drawn significant international interest. The policy aims to simplify residency requirements for high-value investors and global talents, ensuring their contributions support sectors like technology, tourism, and renewable energy. Silmy emphasized the policy's twofold vision: making Indonesia a top investment destination while fostering local economic benefits through job creation and knowledge transfer.

Crafted through global best practices and tailored to Indonesia's unique economic goals, the Golden Visa aligns with the country's vision for inclusive and sustainable development. Indonesia boasts robust macroeconomic prospects, with a steady growth rate of around 5% annually, positioning the country as the world's 13th-largest economy by 2030 and 5th by 2045. Key sectors such as property, information technology, and financial services are expanding rapidly, supported by monetary stability and infrastructure investment of approximately IDR 710 trillion. This initiative underscores Indonesia's commitment to economic competitiveness and green growth, further enhancing its appeal on the global stage.
