Indonesia Explores Global Opportunities at Halal Expo Turkey 2024

Indonesia's halal industry has demonstrated significant growth during 2023-2024, reaffirming its position as a global leader in the Islamic economy. Strategic government policies and support have boosted key sectors, such as halal food and beverages, which grew by 5.87% (YoY), and modest fashion, with a 3.81% (YoY) increase. According to Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, these developments highlight the potential dominance of the Islamic economy in driving Indonesia’s future national economic growth. The State of the Global Islamic Economy Report (SGIER) 2023/2024 estimates global halal product consumption to reach USD 2.4 trillion by 2024, showcasing Indonesia's vast opportunities to strengthen its global presence in the halal value chain.

In 2024, Indonesia is leveraging this momentum by showcasing its excellence at the prestigious Halal Expo Turkey, one of the world's largest halal trade fairs. At the 2023 event, Indonesia achieved trade commitments totaling IDR10.4 billion, establishing a foundation for targeted promotion efforts. This year, Indonesia’s Pavilion, officially opened on the first day of the expo, features top products from various sectors. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Eko S.A. Cahyanto, along with Ambassador Achmad Rizal Purnama, and senior officials, including Nila Kumalasari and Syahroni Ahmad. Their collective efforts aim to enhance global collaborations and cement Indonesia's status as a major player in the halal industry.
