Indonesian businesses, particularly MSMEs, have a promising opportunity to expand their market to Saudi Arabia through The 2nd Made in INDONESIA EXPO 2025, scheduled for 17-19 April 2025 at Arena Venue, Riyadh. According to Mardyana Listyowati, Director General of National Export Development, this event aims to boost the penetration of Indonesia’s top products into Saudi Arabia, a strategic trade partner in the Middle East. The exhibition will connect Indonesian businesses with international buyers, investors, and potential partners, offering not only a platform for product promotion but also avenues to strengthen business networks through forums and trade negotiations. Saudi Arabia’s rising demand for halal products, innovative technologies, and high-quality services presents significant opportunities for Indonesian exporters to secure a stronger foothold in this fast-growing economy, fueled by Saudi Vision 2030’s economic diversification agenda.
The Ministry of Trade also emphasized support for MSMEs through the UMKM BISA Ekspor program, targeting ecosystem development and creating 100 export-ready MSMEs. This program includes establishing new export hubs outside Java, training 600 MSMEs by December 2024, and leveraging trade representatives to promote MSME products, with a projected USD 55 million in transactions. Trade Attaché Riyadh, Gunawan, highlighted the untapped potential of processed food and fishery products, supported by Indonesia’s large diaspora of three million and over 100,000 umrah pilgrims annually in Saudi Arabia. Indonesia recorded a USD 1.28 billion non-oil and gas trade surplus with Saudi Arabia from January to September 2024, up from USD 1 billion in the same period of 2023. Key exports include automotive products, palm oil derivatives, spices, processed fish, steel pipes, and ships, underlining the strategic importance of expanding market reach to Saudi Arabia and beyond.
