Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) are a vital engine of Indonesia’s economy, and PLN Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Jakarta Raya is actively contributing to their growth. To support this sector, PLN UID Jakarta Raya has officially inaugurated the new UMK Hub Jakarta Raya building in Kembangan, West Jakarta. The hub aims to be a center for UMKM empowerment, providing essential resources and infrastructure to help small businesses grow and contribute to local economic development. Since its establishment, the hub has already supported 925 UMKMs, generating more than IDR 1 billion in annual turnover, showcasing its significant impact on the local business community.

The new UMK Hub also emphasizes sustainability, incorporating innovative design elements to reduce environmental impact. The building uses Fly Ash and Bottom Ash (FABA)—byproducts from the Lontar coal-fired power plant operated by PLN—in the construction of various parts of the building, such as seating, walls, and kitchen tables. General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Lasiran, highlighted that this initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable business ecosystem while reducing carbon emissions. The inauguration event also featured presentations from successful UMKMs like Demero Indonesia and Batik Palbatu, which shared their stories of innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, further reinforcing the hub’s role in driving positive change for local businesses and communities.
