The Halal Industrial Park Special Economic Zone (KEK HIPS) in Sidoarjo, managed by PT Makmur Berkah Amanda Tbk (MBA), aims to attract investments totaling Rp 97.8 trillion by 2045. If successful, this investment could create approximately 317,000 job opportunities. "Our target is to draw investments of Rp 97.8 trillion by 2045, generating more than 317,000 jobs. We invite investors to collaborate in developing the great potential of this halal industry," said Adi Teja Surya, Director of PT Makmur Berkah Amanda Tbk, in a statement on Sunday (November 24, 2024).
Adi believes this target is realistic, given Indonesia’s ambition to become the global center for halal products, despite its current small role as a halal producer. As a result, the company plans to make the Sidoarjo Halal SEZ a strategic move to position Indonesia as a key player in the global halal industry. He is optimistic that KEK Halal Sidoarjo will create a robust ecosystem encompassing production, logistics, processing, and distribution of halal products. This potential, he emphasized, requires an industrial zone that can serve as the backbone of the future halal industry. In addition to supporting local economic growth, PT MBA will collaborate with the government to accelerate economic development in Eastern Indonesia, in line with the vision of President Prabowo and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, who aim for an 8% economic growth rate by 2025. Recently, the Sidoarjo Halal Industrial SEZ received an investment injection of up to Rp 50 billion from Super Dry Marine, a company specializing in moisture damage prevention for maritime transport and cargo storage. Super Dry Marine's Director, Aaron, hopes that this investment will open new job opportunities for the local community. He further mentioned that products from KEK Halal Sidoarjo will be exported to the United States, several European countries, and Asia, with the company already collaborating with businesses in those regions.
