The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, officially launched the export of bread dough produced by PT Juara Roti Indonesia to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Klaten, Central Java, on Friday, 22 November. This marks the eighth export by this MSME, under the brand Roti Ropi. Minister Budi emphasized that Indonesian MSME products are competitive in quality but require enhanced branding to improve their image abroad. “Let’s build the image of Indonesian products. Despite their quality and competitiveness, some countries still view them differently, affecting international sales,” he noted. Among the existing MSMEs, only 3.74% show consistent growth, exemplified by Roti Ropi. He added that increasing the number of consistently growing MSMEs could significantly boost their contribution to Indonesia’s economy.
The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has implemented several initiatives to support MSMEs, including the "UMKM Berani Inovasi, Siap Adaptasi Ekspor" (UMKM BISA Ekspor) program, which provides mentoring, training, and market expansion assistance through over 40 trade representatives in partner countries. PT Juara Roti Indonesia, known for its premium bread and coffee products, operates 70 outlets nationwide and 5 in the UAE, with plans to expand to Egypt. From January to September 2024, Indonesian processed food exports reached USD 4 billion, growing 6.9% compared to the same period in 2023. Over the past five years, this sector has seen an annual growth trend of 6.81%. In addition to the export launch, Minister Budi laid the foundation for the new Roti Ropi factory in Klaten.
