The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), also known as Indonesia Eximbank, is actively supporting businesses producing moringa leaf-based products to access global markets through initiatives like the Coaching Program for New Exporters (CPNE) and Desa Devisa. According to LPEI SMEs Advisory Services Division Head Maria Sidabuta, the high global demand for moringa products, known as superfoods, has led to a 90.74% increase in powdered vegetable exports during January–September 2024, reaching USD 13.75 million from USD 7.21 million in the same period last year. Export volume rose by 169.41%, from 1,610 tons to 4,350 tons, with major markets including China, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. LPEI's CPNE focuses on export skills, global market regulations, and marketing strategies, while Desa Devisa in Sumenep, Madura, has significantly expanded production capacity with LPEI’s guidance, including organic certification to penetrate the U.S., European, and Australian markets.
The success of businesses like PT Keloria Moringa Jaya and Desa Devisa highlights the economic impact of LPEI's programs. PT Keloria Moringa Jaya increased its exports from 20 kg in 2021 to 300 kg per shipment, earning approximately USD 5,400 monthly, with over 75% of sales coming from exports. Similarly, Desa Devisa now produces 12 tons of powdered moringa and 20 tons of dried leaves monthly, with 90% exported, especially to Malaysia. LPEI also provided drying and powdering machines, enabling cost efficiency and improved production. Collaboration with local partners has involved 1,700 farmers, enhancing livelihoods in nine villages. Moringa products are sought after internationally for diverse applications, including food, cosmetics, and livestock feed.
