President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to discuss strategic cooperation in energy, oil, and gas sectors. The meeting, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 17, 2024, was reported by Indonesia's Presidential Communication Office via its Instagram account. The discussion emphasized the commitment of both nations to enhancing human resource development through education and training, as well as accelerating digitalization to drive mutual progress. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
Earlier, during President Hassan's visit to Indonesia on January 25, 2024, both countries agreed to strengthen ties across key sectors, including trade, investment, healthcare, and human resource development. Notable agreements include initiating negotiations for a preferential trade agreement (PTA) in 2024 to boost bilateral trade. Additionally, Indonesia and Tanzania committed to deepening collaboration in energy, particularly in oil and gas, with the involvement of Indonesian state-owned enterprises such as PT Pertamina and Medco Energi. Cooperation will also extend to enhancing Tanzania's capacity in agriculture and energy through training and education. Both nations agreed to strengthen pharmaceutical partnerships, streamline drug registration processes, and support South-South cooperation through the Indonesia-Africa Forum.
