Government Launches First Shrimp Export to Brunei Darussalam Worth IDR 1.66 Billion

On November 18, 2024, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) facilitated the first-ever export of shrimp products to Brunei Darussalam, valued at IDR 1.66 billion. The shipment included 42 tons of shrimp feed, 8 million shrimp larvae (benur), and 400 breeding shrimp. Budi Sulistyo, Director-General of Fisheries Competitiveness at KKP, highlighted that this export demonstrates the ability of Indonesian aquaculture products to compete in the global market. He emphasized that the shrimp feed, produced with optimized local raw materials and innovative technology, not only supports domestic aquaculture but also contributes to the growth of downstream industries such as fisheries processing. Budi expressed hope that this export would pave the way for further cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei in both trade and investment in the fisheries sector.

Sahat Panggabean, Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (BKI), also affirmed the agency's commitment to supporting the expansion of Indonesia’s fisheries exports. He assured that BKI would continue to facilitate and streamline export processes for businesses, ensuring smooth operations at customs and quarantine points. Budi, in turn, praised the collaboration between various stakeholders that made this inaugural export possible and called for continued momentum in expanding Indonesia's aquaculture exports. He noted that the government remains committed to policies that encourage innovation, production efficiency, and environmental sustainability, with the aim of expanding exports not only to Brunei but also to other international markets.
