Bank Mandiri has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesia's creative industry through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The latest initiative, launched on November 17, 2024, focuses on strengthening traditional weaving groups in Bali, Lombok, and Kupang, with the goal of promoting Indonesian textile products on the global stage. Wisnu Trihanggodo, Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) of Corporate Relations at Bank Mandiri, emphasized that the bank is fully committed to supporting the development of the local fashion industry, especially through empowering traditional weaving communities. This initiative aims to equip artisans with the necessary tools and skills to improve product quality and expand their market reach.
Traditional weaving from Bali, Lombok, and Kupang holds immense cultural and artistic value, and Bank Mandiri recognizes the potential for these products to compete internationally. To support this, the bank has provided training, infrastructure, and essential equipment such as sewing machines, looms, raw materials (threads and dyes), and other tools. “We are offering training and providing support to improve the quality and production capacity of the weavers,” Wisnu stated in a written release on November 17, 2024. Four weaving groups from Lombok, Bali, and Kupang are benefiting from this initiative, including the Cipta Wastra Sundara Cooperative in Lombok, which represents 63 weavers, two BUMN-supported groups in Kupang—Tenun Ikat Ina Sabu (30 members) and Tenun Ayu Tupas (14 members)—and the Nyalakok Tenun Group from East Lombok, consisting of 13 weavers. Through this support, Bank Mandiri aims to foster growth in the local creative industry, create sustainable jobs, and enhance the global recognition of Indonesian culture.
