Muhammad Sadi, a member of the Islamic Savings and Financing Cooperative (KSPPS) BMT Al-Bahjah in Cirebon, has successfully expanded his business to the international stage. This success was made possible through revolving capital support from the Cooperative Fund Management Institution for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (LPDB-KUMKM). Originally a local craftsman, Sadi transformed plastic waste into high-quality synthetic rattan products that are now in demand both domestically and abroad. His products, such as chairs and other furniture, have successfully penetrated international markets in Turkey and Germany. Sadi credits much of his success to the financial assistance from LPDB-KUMKM via the cooperative, which enabled him to purchase the production machinery necessary to scale up his operations.
What makes Sadi’s success particularly inspiring is his innovative approach to turning plastic waste into valuable products for the market. Initially making furniture from natural rattan, Sadi sought to create more sustainable and innovative products. His breakthrough came when he discovered how to recycle plastic waste into high-quality, eco-friendly synthetic rattan. Over the past ten years, with the help of BMT Al-Bahjah’s financial support, Sadi’s business has grown steadily, now employing 50 people in the local community. This expansion not only highlights his entrepreneurial spirit but also contributes to job creation in Cirebon, further boosting the local economy.
