Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) continues its commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs by supporting small and medium enterprises (UMKM) to expand globally and compete in international markets. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, BRI Peduli, the bank organized an Export Training Program in collaboration with the BRI Research Institute (BRIRIns) and the Export and Trade Services Training Center (PPEJP). Held from October 29 to 31, 2024, at the PPEJP Training Center in Jakarta, the program was attended by 30 aspiring exporters who are also BRI’s UMKM partners from various regions across Indonesia. BRI’s Deputy President Director, Catur Budi Harto, emphasized that the goal of the training was to equip participants with essential export skills to help them grow their businesses from local markets to national and global markets. He encouraged the UMKM to maintain product quality while expanding their reach, enabling them to “level up” and access larger markets.
The export training provided practical insights into key areas such as market analysis, SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis, product development for international needs, and strategies for finding buyers in global markets. Participants like Ade Ariyanti, owner of UMKM Sambal Mak Kocai, shared how the pandemic led her to start a sambal business, which has since gained popularity and sustainability. Ade expressed her gratitude for the training and guidance from BRI, hoping it would help her expand the reach of her sambal products. Similarly, Teuku Akmal, the founder of a fashion brand inspired by Indonesia's local wisdom, shared that the training helped him understand the essential steps needed to expand his business internationally. Both participants highlighted the valuable lessons learned, particularly about identifying export destinations and calculating necessary costs, and expressed their hopes to grow their businesses and enter international markets. Through this initiative, BRI aims to equip more UMKM with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the global export arena.
